Friendly Entryway Ideas

Entryways are how you welcome yourself, and others into your home. Isn’t it a good feeling to be welcomed inside with a place ready for you to hang your purse, place your keys, and maybe take off your shoes? Purposeful entryways are a practical way of telling your guests they are welcome in your home. It’s extra special when you see a family photo, or a beautiful mirror, or a unique art piece that say, “This is us, welcome to our home.”  Here are some ways to welcome yourself, and others to your home!

Don’t underestimate welcome mats.

Why miss out on the opportunity to make something that is practical beautiful? Instead of picking out a plain mat for your front door, try looking for one that is a bit more fun, one that will make your guest smile as they dust off their shoes!

Looking for a cute and versatile door mat? Check out this one from Wayfair: Higden "Hello You Lovely People" Outdoor Door Mat”.

The entryway can be whatever you want it to be.

There are no rules for how to decorate your entryway. It can be simple, or over-the-top!

Catch-all baskets help keep things organized.

Baskets and bins can be the perfect solution to a pile of shoes that happens everyday when the kids get home! During the summer, maybe you have a designated basket for sunscreen and sunglasses!

For an entry-table shelf or cubby holes, look for something like these from Wayfair: Lambeth 3 Piece Whicker/Rattan Basket Set.

If you’re in need of a floor basket, I recommend one like this from Target: Decorative Basket White - Threshold.

Make a statement.

This is a great place to display art that you love, or family photos. Don’t be afraid to go bold if that’s the personality of your home!

Mirrors add the perfect mix of style and function.

Mirrors can really open up a space, making it feel bigger than it actually is. It’s also nice to have a quick look in the mirror to check makeup, food in teeth, etc!

I’m in love with this reasonably priced one from Target: Walnut Round Barrel Decorative Wall Mirror with Shelf.

Add a few wall hooks why don’t you?!

Wall hooks encourage guests to stay a while. Whether there are just a couple, or a whole rack, they are a very functional decor piece and can also bring a lot of style to the space.
