Decorating for Fall

It’s not too early or too late to decorate your home for fall. I’m seeing a few trends this year as well as traditional décor being used. How you want your space to feel is totally up to you, so if seasonal décor feels like too much clutter, try replacing certain pieces for a more minimalist look instead of adding.

The traditional, warm autumn colors like red, orange, and yellow, have been embraced all year round instead of just fall. So, If you been looking for an excuse to shop for that amber colored duvet, now you have one! These current décor trends make it so much easier to display a more subtle seasonal style, which you may like more than obvious décor like leaves, acorns and pumpkins.

Tip: When shopping, search for colors like Ginger, Burnt Orange, Terra Cotta, Amber, and Mustard! Certain cozy textures have also been popular all year, such as Velvet, Linen, Fur, Dried Grass, and Rattan.

But there’s even more good news. The Farmhouse style is pretty traditional for fall décor, and I don’t have to tell you how popular that style is right now. Maybe you’ve been flirting with the farmhouse look for a while in Joana Gaines’ “Hearth & Hand” isles at Target, but never committed because you’re pretty sure it’s “not your style”. FRIEND, the holiday season is the perfect time to try it out!

Simple Décor You’ll Fall in Love With.

Fresh Florals & Dried Grass

Outfit your tables with a medley of autumnal blooms that display the colors of the season. Any reason to get fresh flowers is a good one, am I right Ladies? You can shop for fall flowers at your local grocery store, florist, or farmers market. Have you been dying to try out the Pampas grass trend? I thought so. Although I’ve found florals and wheat at my local Trader Joes, Pampas grass is a little trickier to find. Your local boutique or florist may have dried bouquets for sale, otherwise, you can find them online!

Display Mini Pumpkins

You can either embrace the orange pumpkins, or go for white ones instead. I personally am going to try painting one of my pumpkins a neutral, light pink color just for fun!

Switch Out Throw Pillows & Blankets

It doesn’t take up a lot of space to store a few pillow cases to switch out during the holidays, which is why I’m a fan of this decor idea! Look for pillows that say things like “thankful” and “gather” to add an especially cozy feel to your space. If you love the warm autumnal color trend but are unsure if it’s your year-round style preference, embrace it just for the season!

Mugs

Welcome the season every morning with your cup of coffee or chai tea latte! Mugs are a small piece that add so much warm and coziness to the holiday spirit.

Try Out the Farmhouse Style

Open to embracing your inner farmhouse spirit? Decorate for fall with iron candle sticks, a flannel table runner, and other sentimental decor made of wood or tin!

Make the Outdoors Cozier

Greet house guests in the spirit of the season before they even step foot inside your home. Dress the door with a garland or wreath, made out of corn husks and preserved dried oak leaves, then add a doormat with a season greeting. And just because the temperatures are chilly, doesn't mean you can't enjoy the fresh autumn air. Add string lights, plush blankets, fuzzy throw pillows, and lanterns to cozy up your outdoor living space.
